How To Prevent For Common Dog Chewing Problems
Dog chewing problems can be very frustrating. Besides barking problems, this is one of the most common behavioral problems that owners often face.
In order to help you through this problem, here are some basic solutions to some of the most common problems facing dog owners today.
Chewing the Corner of the Couch
Chewing on the corner of the couch or chair, or any piece of furniture seems to be a common behavioral problem. One way that you can prevent this is by installing furniture protectors, or by spraying a bitter tasting spray called Thums on the corners of the furniture.
Destroying the Car
If you find that your dog loves to rip apart the armrest in your truck or the car, you may want to think about keeping a crate in the backseat. Keeping your dog confined in a crate while you’re driving around is an acceptable solution, but try to keep more to toys in the back seat to keep them entertained.
Destroying the Garden
If you find that your dog is destroying your favorite garden, or digging in the plants and chewing on them. You could either put up a physical fence around them to keep them separated, or simply retrain them it is not okay to do this.
Destroying your Personal Objects
If you find your dog chewing on your shoes or on other objects that are laying on the floor you may just want to think about storing them in a cabinet, so the dog does not have access to them. You may also want to give them a lot more chewing toys.
Boredom is probably one of the main causes of dog chewing problems. Obviously the solution is to keep them preoccupied with other activities. This could be things like new toys, or more frequent walks around the block.
Even though this is may be a very frustrating behavioral problem to deal with, there are a lot of simple solutions to dog chewing problems that you should try and implement.
